Sunday Netball Match Reports Round 8

goal diggers v family feud

Family Feud are coming into tonight’s game on a winning streak, in their way of that continuing are Goal Diggers who are yet to win their first game at Eastern Indoor since joining mid-season. Family Feud got out to a nice start, an intercept allowing them to build a 2 goal lead at the change of ends. Goal Diggers fought back in the second quarter, overcoming the deficit and just nudging in front by a single goal at half time. Both teams were giving 100% up and down the court, it’s always great to see such evenly matched games. The third quarter felt more like a final than a round 8 game, the lead changing multiple times and players putting their bodies on the line, scores are drawn with a quarter to go. It was an incredible quarter to watch, Lachie played an exceptional game for Goal Diggers and with such accurate shooting was able to bring it home for the win, 27 to 25.

uneducated v hill rats

Newcomers to the comp, we are expecting this to be a close game as both of these teams are very evenly matched. The first quarter Hill Rats came out strong, catching Uneducated on the back foot and quickly getting out to a 3 goal lead. The second quarter Uneducated bridged the gap and got it back to a 1 goal game. Hill Rats increased their effort in the third quarter, working hard to build back the lead they had in the first quarter. It was a high scoring last quarter, both teams eager to get this win, Taylor had a great game in defence for Hill Rats and really made a difference allowing them to just scrap it home with a 17 to 19 win, also scoring player of the match for their efforts.

pancake pals v the og's

Both teams are finals contenders, and this is a match up many have been waiting to see. The first quarter both teams pushed hard and moved the ball well, it was a high scoring quarter with both teams scoring 9 goals each. Pancake Pals just nudged ahead in the second quarter as they went to half time break with a goal up their sleeve. But it wasn’t for long as The Og’s fought back in the third quarter and were able to get out to their own goal lead heading into the final quarter. Was it the pressure from The Og’s or did the wheels fall off for Pancake Pals? The Og’s stretched away in the final quarter to win the game, 27 to 34. Cam was awarded Player of the Match for Pancake Pals

sockballers v amazeballs

Another game this week that is expected to be a good match up, these two teams play a similar style and will be hard to separate them. The first quarter, Amazeballs were off to a flyer, shooting well and keeping their defence tight. The second quarter Sockballers made some changes and got the game back within 2 goals for the half time break. Amazeballs started to tire come the third quarter with Sockballers taking the lead and stretching out to a 3 goal comfort zone. Both teams kept pushing right to the last minute, but Sockballers played a great last quarter, winning the game, 26 to 24. Kane played a good game and was awarded Player of the Match for Amazeballs.

phat phlamingos v don't step

Phat Phlamingos have been playing a perfect season so far, can they keep it going against the strength of Don’t Step. The first quarter both teams came out strong, a single overturn allowing Phat Phlamingos a lead as the quarter ended. The second quarter was the same, both teams moving the ball around and keeping their defence tight, however the goalers for Phat Phlamingos just having a slighter easier night and extending the lead out to 3 at the half time break. It was even for the third quarter, goal for goal from both teams, it all came down to the final quarter and Phat Phlamingos were just too strong, scoring 10 goals for the quarter to win the game, 31 to 20.

brogres v the opposition

Brogres flew out at the first whistle and immediately had The Opposition on the back foot, getting out to a 2 goal lead at the first break. The Opposition didn’t give up and were able to get back within a goal at half time. Showing just how evenly matched these teams are, it was goal for goal in the third, minor errors by both teams, but a great game, getting it to 14 all, everything riding on the final quarter. The Opposition found energy they hadn’t showcased all night and brought the game home for a 17 to 22 win.

underachievers v spaghetti n netballs

These two teams have had a challenging season so far but are strong enough to take it to the top of the ladder teams, so will be a good game against each other. Underachievers started out strong and their defenders were making it almost impossible for Spaghetti n Netballs to score. It was an even game for the second quarter with both teams only managing 3 goals, a testament to the defensive effort show by both teams. It was another even quarter for the third, both teams being very careful with the ball to ensure it doesn’t get overturned. The first quarter it was bodies on the line as they fought it out, Underachievers ultimately winning by the margin they built at the beginning of the game, 15 to 12.
