Wednesday Netball Match Reports Round 3

Droppin Balls v CENTREFOLD

Both teams are coming into tonight’s game from a win last week. The first quarter saw both teams moving the ball around the court well. The second quarter had Droppin Balls starting to build a lead over Centrefold heading into halftime. Centrefold kept pushing in the second half, but the defensive efforts from Droppin Balls’ circle defenders were too strong for them, keeping them to just 2 goals for the second half. Droppin Balls took out the win for their second in a row, 25 to 10.

Harley’s Angels v Slayers

Slayers are on the back of a challenging week last week and will be hoping to secure their first win of the season tonight against Harley’s Angels, who have 4 points already on the board. Both teams attacked the game with great sportsmanship, and it was lovely to see so many smiles on the court. Harley’s Angels pushed hard in the second half and made the most of the height they had on court, winning their second game, 24 to 12.

Wildcats v Sunflowers

Wildcats are riding high from their win last week but will have a challenge on their hands tonight against Sunflowers who are eager to get their first win on the board. It was a heart pumping game from the get go, both teams so evenly matched. The game continued to go back and forth with the team in the lead changing a number of times, ultimately it came down to the final minute, Sunflowers just clutching the win, 21 to 22. Sophie had a stellar performance for Wildcats and was named Player of the match for her efforts.

GMD v The Rusty’s

Both teams are yet to win a game so far this season and will be eager to do it tonight. GMD got out to a great start in the first quarter, their defensive end doing everything they could to shut down The Rusty’s advances. The second quarter The Rusty’s defence clued on to GMD’s style of play and were able to slow their play down. The second half saw The Rusty’s shooters goal more confidently and they were able to convert more goal in the process. GMD won the game in the end, 26 to 6.

Jo Mama v Naomi’s Team

Naomi’s Team forfeit.

One Shot Wonders v Mediocre

Both teams are eager to get a win on the board, set to be the match of the night, and it lived up to it. Both teams played well and pushed hard. Mediocre shuffled their players around to continue to fight against One Shot Wonders advances. At half time this game could have gone either way, but Mediocre pushed until the final second and were able to secure their first win, 16 to 18.

Don’t Call HR! v The Odd Bunch

Welcome back to Don’t Call HR! first game is going to be a challenge against The Odd Bunch, the first quarter was goal for goal with both teams moving well and sticking to their players down the court. The second quarter saw Don’t Call HR! start to pull away from The Odd Bunch, gaining a 4 goal lead at the half time break. The Odd Bunch increased their defensive efforts in the second half, slowing the goal scoring of Don’t Call HR! The final quarter, both teams gave it their all, Don’t Call HR! took the win 13 to 7.

Bittabanter v Transformers

Welcome to the competition Transformers, you had a challenge ahead of you tonight against the strength of Bittabanter. If Transformers walked on court with any nerves, they were quickly washed away as they moved the ball down the court with ease. The few players new to or returning to netball were given pointers and very quickly implemented them in the game. Both teams made some errors in the game, but it was a great game overall. Keep an eye on Transformers, they will soon become competitive against the competition. Bittabanter won the game 24 to 9.
