Wednesday Netball Match Reports Round 5

droppin ballz v centrefold

Both teams are coming into tonight’s game from a challenging game last week and will be keen to turn it around tonight. Both teams got out to a good start in the first quarter, Centrefold starting to build a bit of a lead near the end of the quarter. The second quarter saw Centrefold shoot well as they had in the first quarter, but they stepped up their defensive efforts and kept Droppin Balls to just 2 goals for the quarter, extending their lead out to 10 at the break. The third quarter saw Droppin Balls fight back, and it was a more even scoring quarter for both teams. The final quarter saw Droppin Balls continue the momentum from the third quarter and eat away at the lead Centrefold had built, time was just not on their side, with Centrefold holding out to win the game, 24 to 30. Sal played a great game and was awarded Player of the Match for Centrefold.

bibs out for the boys v haysoms on ket

Both teams have had challenging weeks leading up to tonight’s game and that will turn around for one of them. Bibs Out for the Boys got out to a good start in the first quarter and quickly built a small lead for themselves. The second quarter Haysoms on Ket started to move the ball around and score some good goals, however Bibs Out for the Boys kept pushing hard and extended their lead out to 8 goals at the break. The third quarter was tough for both teams, it was very strong defensively with both teams scoring only a single goal each. Haysoms on Ket kept the pressure on in the final quarter and was able to lessen the lead Bibs Out for the Boys had built, however Bibs Out for the Boys did just enough and won the game, 16 to 10. Carly was awarded Player of the Match for Bibs Out for the Boys for the second time this season.

easy breezy v slayers

Easy Breezy are coming into tonight’s game from a couple of challenging weeks, they are up against Slayers who are on a 2 week winning streak. The first quarter saw Easy Breezy get out strongly and build themselves a 7 goal lead at the change. Slayers had a better second quarter and were able to score 4 goals for the quarter, Easy Breezy kept pushing and extended out their lead to 10 goals at the break. Slayers had another good quarter in the third and were able to outscore Easy Breezy to slightly reduce the gap. The final quarter was even scoring by both teams, Slayers struggling to make up for the first quarter, Easy Breezy won the game, 23 to 14. Louise had a great game in goals for Easy Breezy and was awarded Player of the Match.

mediocre v one shot wonders

Mediocre are currently on a 2 game winning streak and are up against One Shot Wonders who are fresh from the Bye last week. The first quarter was even by both teams, moving the ball around and shooting well. This continued into the second quarter, both teams very well matched in this game. Mediocre regrouped at the half time break and came out with a fire in their belly in the third, quickly going from even scores to a 10 goal lead. One Shot Wonders fought back in the final quarter but couldn’t do enough, Mediocre won the game, 28 to 23. Tyran was awarded Player of the Match for One Shot Wonders. 

cheeseballers v harley's angels

Both teams are coming into tonight’s game on a winning streak but only won team can see that continue. Harley’s Angels got out to a strong start and not only shot well but also kept their defence tight to limit Cheeseballers to just the 1 goal for the quarter. The second quarter was similar to the first with Cheeseballers struggling to find the flow we have seen from them in previous weeks. Harley’s Angels continued to play hard in the second half and Cheeseballers started to move the ball around better. Their goalers starting to find their confidence again and putting the ball up. Cooper for Cheeseballers and Bonnie for Harley’s Angels were awarded Players of the Match for their efforts in the game. Harley’s Angels won the game, 7 to 32 to extend out their winning streak to 3 games.

mish n mash v sunflowers

Mish N Mash have had a challenging last couple of weeks, they are up against Sunflowers tonight who are on a winning streak. The first quarter was fairly even with both teams playing well, Sunflowers were able to build a 3 goal lead at the change. The second quarter was similar to the first with Sunflowers extending their lead out to 4 at the break. Mish n Mash regrouped at half time and smashed out the third quarter, leveling the scores’ part way through the quarter and going into the final quarter 14 all. Sunflowers fought hard in the final quarter and won the game 17 to 20. Jodie had a phenomenal game and was awarded Player of the Match for Mish n Mash.

gmd v the odd bunch

GMD got their first win of the season last week and they are playing The Odd Bunch who have had a challenging start to the season. GMD came out strong in the first quarter and quickly started on building a lead. The Odd Bunch missing some of their players, continued to move the ball around well, however the pressure from GMD was relentless. The second quarter saw The Odd Bunch start to find their groove and they were able to start getting some scores on the board. GMD continued to push and got out to a 13 goal lead at the break. The third quarter saw GMD keep working on extending their lead. Bianca from the Odd Bunch had a great game and was awarded Player of the Match. GMD won the game, 25 to 6.

naomi's team v bittabanter

Both teams are coming into tonight’s game from a few good wins this season. The first quarter saw Naomi’s Team defend strongly, quickly shutting down the shooting end for Bittabanter. The moved the ball around well and thwarted every attempt Bittabanter made to score, quickly building a 7 goal lead at the first change. The second quarter saw Bittabanter made a change to try and get back the lead Naomi’s Team had made. This was a good move as they found their normal groove and started to score consecutive goals until the game had to be abandoned due to equipment issues in the second quarter, resulting in a 0 to 0 score for both teams.
