Wednesday Match Reports Round 10

droppin ballz v mediocre

Droppin Balls came into this game after a hard-fought win last week, eager to prove themselves as finals contenders. Mediocre on the other hand have had a tough run lately, the first quarter proved this too would be a hard game. Droppin Balls came out firing and quickly got their score to double digits in the first quarter, heading into the change 12 to 4. Mediocre continued to fight hard in the second quarter, however Bridget made a move to Centre and made a big impact in Droppin Balls aiding them to score 16 goals for the quarter and she was rewarded with Player of the Match. The all female shooting circle for Mediocre in the second half was over powered by the strong defenders of Droppin Balls and would see Droppin Balls get the win. Watch out for Mediocre though, these players are only getting better week on week!

centrefold v back that pass up

This game is set to be the game of the night. With the first quarter being goal for goal it was clear to see that Back That Pass Up have come into their groove and are ready to take it to the top of the ladder! Centrefold shot early in the second quarter to get out to a 2 goal lead and the quarter continued goal for goal with the break seeing a 13 to 11 score line. Back That Pass Up kept the pressure on in the third quarter and held Centrefold to a lead of just 2 goals. Phoebe was instrumental for Centrefold in the last quarter and aided them to extend the lead, she was awarded player of the match for her efforts and Centrefold took the game 25 to 20. Can’t wait to see what Back That Pass Up can achieve in the coming weeks.

bittabanter v naomi's team

It has been a long standing rivalry between these two finals contenders, Naomi’s Team continue to challenge the top of the ladder Bittabanter. The first quarter saw Bittabanter score quickly with Naomi’s Team missing their key defenders, with the score line 8 to 3 at quarter time, Naomi’s Team made some changes to try and slow the shooting down. Sam was on fire with goals for Bittabanter and it seemed nothing could stop him, Bittabanter went into the break with a 18 to 5 lead, thanks to his efforts and the umpires awarded him Player of the Match. Bittabanter made changes in their goalers for the second half, Naomi’s Team kept the pressure on and the gap remained the same at 25 to 12 at the last change. Bittabanter tired in the last quarter and Naomi’s Team capitalised on this and narrowed the gap by the end of the game, but time wasn’t on their side and Bittabanter ultimately took it out, with 32 to 23.

the hot shots v sunflowers

Hot Shots are coming into this game from a strong win last week and Sunflowers from a tough loss, eager to turn that around this week. Both teams came out strong in the first quarter, however Sunflowers more accurate with their shooting were able to quickly get out to a 4 goal lead at the change. The Hot Shots got the gap back within 2 early during the second quarter and kept it there going into the break. Sunflowers made a change in defence for the third quarter and it worked well to stem the goals from The Hot Shots, holding them to only 2 goals for the quarter. Sam really stepped it up in the final quarter and caught the attention of the umpires, ultimately awarded Player of the Match, it wasn’t quite enough for the Hot Shots in the end, with Sunflowers taking the game, 19 to 31. 

harley's angels v gmd

Both teams are coming into this game off the back of strong wins last week, very equally matched all season, will be a great game. Harley’s Angels came out early with a 3 goal lead in the first quarter. Some positional changes for GMD seem to work against them in the second quarter with Harley’s Angels extending their lead out to 7 at the break. The third quarter was another strong quarter with Harley’s Angels Nicole & Jim both being key players for their team and extending the lead out to 12. GMD fought hard in the last quarter, the shooting accuracy increasing as the game went on. Harley’s Angels ultimately won the game, 25 to 13. 

bibs out for the boys v pms

Bibs out for the Boys are coming into this game after a challenging week last week, equally PMS had a very close game last week, will the late game have an impact on either side? PMS missing some of their key players have had to recruit fill ins, but Bibs out for the Boys came out strong in the first quarter, shooting 9 goals to PMS’s 4. PMS increased the pressure in the second quarter and slowed the goals for Bibs out, Daniel for PMS had a strong presence in Bibs Out for the Boys goal circle and was awarded best on for his team by the umpires. Equally Saskia was instrumental for Bibs out and was awarded Best on for her team. The Second half saw Bibs out for the Boys put the foot down again and they ultimately took the game 23 to 15. 

easy breezy v the odd bunch

The first quarter was hard fought by both teams, the defence was the stand out with only 2 goals in total scored all quarter. The second quarter we started to see some goaling action with Easy Breezy getting out to a 7 to 4 lead. The third quarter was very evenly matched with both teams going goal for goal. Hashanthie was a standout for The Off Bunch, recognised by the umpires and ultimately awarded Player of the Match. The last quarter Easy Breezy found a second wind and pushed out the score line, taking the game 24 to 13. 

underwhelmingly average v sorry in advance

Both teams are coming into this game from hard fought games last week, Underwhelmingly Average capitalised quickly on the fact that Sorry in Advance were missing a few of their usual players and got out to a 3 goal lead in the first quarter. The second quarter was goal for goal from both teams and we saw the Sorry in Advance style of play we have gotten used to. The half time break seemed to favour Underwhelmingly Average as they came out and quickly increased their lead in the third quarter. Sorry in Advance started to come back in the last quarter but it wasn’t quite enough with Underwhelmingly Average ending the game 21 v 14. Hayden was a standout for Underwhelmingly Average and the umpires awarded him Player of the Match.

generation xyz v unathletico madrid

An enthralling contest unfolded between the ladder leaders and top-four placed Unathletico Madrid, with the latter pushing the experienced unit all the way. A final 6-4 result kept spectators on their feet and provided Generation XYX with the all-important four points to solidify their stance inside the top two teams. Nurhun was awarded best on court for a match-winning performance.

chicken tikka mo sala v wb boys

WB Boys continued their strong form with a huge upset win over Chicken Tikka 6-2. The latter are never shy of goals themselves and have proven to be a challenging unit to predict this campaign, but will hope to bounce back after this slight blight. Luke once again featured as a standout player to walk away with MOTM honours.

peasants fc v xov

Peasants continued their relentless winning streak, putting eight goals past Xov who were faced with a tough challenge this week. The latter put up a gallant fight against a side who has been scoring in double digits recently. A final 8-1 scoreline was the result with Anthony A once again earning best on court honours.

cazz fc v dirty playground

Cazz and Dirty Playground produced an epic goal-fest with a huge 8-11 scoreline comfortably achieving one of the highest tallies of the night. It was Dirty Playground who conjured one of their best performances of the season to turn their campaign around in the brilliant result. Michael caught the attention of the referee to earn best on court accolades.

mcballers v the sharks

The Sharks have been a tough unit to predict this season with a few fluctuating results, and this week was no different with a big 11-3 scoreline, over newcomers McBallers who are still finding their feet in the comp following their recent introduction. Chris claimed MOTM honours for an eye-catching outing.

ytb v ivory toast f.c

Ivory Toast have been in some stirring form recently and built on it this week with a third win on the trot. Another close result saw the in-form team climb further up the table with a superb 7-5 upset win over YTB, who have been a surprise packet themselves this season and a big chance for top four if they can put this recent blip behind them. Jajia was recognised as best afield for a superb outing. 

kfc hernandez v managed anger

KFC Hernandez were looking to bounce back after a tough loss last week after they fell short by two goals, and they reversed the dose this week with a two-goal victory over Managed Anger, who fought gallantly themselves. A 4-2 result saw KFC Hernandez keep their top four aspirations alive, with Dan earning MOTM honours for his performance.

WORLDS BIGGEST V CHICANO U-TURN

World’s Biggest and Chicano U-turn produced a scoreline to remember with a huge 11-10 result. An absolute goal-fest treated fans to one truly see-sawing contest, in a game that could have repercussions on the top four race. The free-flowing game saw Felipe named player of the match.
