Sunday Netball Match Reports Round 4

The Og’s v The Opposition

The Og’s are entering tonight’s game undefeated and will be keen to see that continue, in their way is The Opposition who had a challenging week last week and will be wanting to turn it around. The first quarter saw The Og’s come out strong and quickly build an 8 goal lead heading into the second quarter. The Opposition made some tactical changes and were able to start to score some more goals, the Og’s kept pushing and extended their lead to 11 goals for the first half. The third quarter was fairly even, both teams moving the ball very well, The Og’s getting out to a 13 goal lead with 1 quarter to go. The Opposition fought back hard in the final quarter, but time was not on their side, The Og’s won, 29 to 19.

Sockballers v Underachievers

Sockballers are currently undefeated and up against finals contenders from last season, Underachievers, this is sure to be a good match up. The first quarter it was goal for goal, both teams moving the ball well. Sockballers found some extra energy in the second quarter and steamed ahead, almost unstoppable. Underachievers regrouped at the half time break to match the energy of Sockballers and started to limit their lead. The final quarter saw Sockballers charge ahead again, ultimately winning the game, 27 to 15, to keep their winning streak alive.

Spaghetti n Netballs v Don’t Step

Spaghetti n Netballs are on the back of a win last week and Don’t Step have had 2 weeks in a row of single goal losses, they will be eager to not have a repeat of that tonight. The first quarter was goal for goal, with Don’t Step just getting ahead, 2 to 3. The low score a testament to the strong defensive skills of both teams. The second quarter Spaghetti n Netballs were able to get 1 point up, again a very close quarter. Spaghetti n Netballs found a new strategy at half time and were able to break away from Don’t Step in the third quarter, building a lead of 8 goals for the final quarter. Both teams fought hard in the final quarter, but Spaghetti n Netball were too strong against Don’t Step, the missing players really costing them this game, Spaghetti winning, 21 to 12.

Family Feud v Pancake Pals

Family Feud have had a challenging start to the season and are up against the formidable Pancake Pals tonight, the first quarter Pancake Pals flew out to a build a strong 11 goal lead, Family Feud continued to play their style of game in the second and they were able to slow the goals being scored by Pancake Pals. The second half both teams played well, however Sandon was exceptional for Pancake Pals and his defensive skills earned him Player of the Match along with Pancake Pals winning the game, 10 to 37 to continue their undefeated streak this season.

Phat Phlamingos v Brogres

Phat Phlamingos are currently undefeated for the season and tonight Brogres will be keen to put a stop to that. The first quarter had Brogres moving well with the ball, however the absence of their usual defenders could be felt as Phat Phlamingos played well in their goal circle. The players that stepped up into defence for Brogres put in a stellar effort, but Beau, shooting for Phat Phlamingos had one of her best games and was named Player of the Match. Phat Phlamingos were able to build up a lead for the majority of the game, however Brogres won the final quarter. It wasn’t enough though to win the game and Phat Phlamingos went away with the 4 points after a 39 to 24 win.

Amazeballs v Hill Rats

Welcome to the competition Hill Rats, your first week is against another of our new teams this season, Amazeballs, who have had some challenging weeks so far and will be eager to push hard in this game. The first quarter saw exactly that with Amazeballs coming out flying and Hill Rats taking the first half to get their groove on the court. The second quarter we saw what Hill Rats has to offer with them moving the ball around well, Hill Rats will have to wait another week for a chance at their first win as Amazeballs won the game, 38 to 11. Kayla had a great game and her consistency all round for Amazeballs earned her Player of the Match.
