Sunday Netball Match Reports Round 8

phat phlamingos v the opposition

Phat Phlamingos are on the back of a hard-fought 1 goal loss last week and up against The
Opposition who also had a hard-fought game, ending in a draw. Both teams will be hopeful for an
easier game tonight. The first quarter was a fairly slow start for both teams, just 3 goals separating
them at the first change of ends. The second quarter saw Phat Phlamingos with the intensity we
have gotten used to seeing from this team, they quickly got out to a 9 goal lead at the break. The
Opposition found their groove in the third quarter and were challenging Phat Phlamingos, putting
the pressure on their goalers. Naveen had a fantastic game and was named Player of the Match for
The Opposition, however this was not enough and Phat Phlamingos took the win, 27 to 16.

spaghetti n netballs v don't step

Both teams had very narrow wins last week and will be looking to win again but hopefully in a less
heart stopping fashion. The first quarter saw Spaghetti n Netballs start strong and with good ball
movement they quickly got out to a 3 goal lead. The second quarter was a better quarter for Don’t
Step who started to find their groove and work better with the fill ins they had, they were able to
start to eat away at the small lead that Spaghetti n Netballs had built in the first quarter. The third
quarter saw Don’t Step continue to step up their defensive efforts and they were able to level the
scores at the final change of ends. The final quarter had the electricity of a grand final, both teams
leaving it all out on the court. Don’t Step taking the lead with moments to go and Spaghetti n
Netballs unable to get it back. Don’t Step won the game 17 to 18, another very close game for both
teams. Ebony was critical for Don’t Step tonight and was awarded player of the match for her
efforts.

brogres v setballers

Brogres are on the back of a good win last week and are up against Setballers, who had a good start
to their season, but have been struggling of late, will tonight’s game be a turnaround for them? The
first quarter saw Brogres have a good start, however the second quarter saw Setballers shooters get
their eye in. They quickly built a lead for themselves heading into the break. The third quarter was
pretty even, both teams moving the ball around well, Setballers just converting 2 more goals and
extending their lead out. Mitchell had a great game in defence for Brogres and was named Player of
the Match, Setballers ultimately won the game, 22 to 37.

family feud v twisted knee

Twisted Knee forfeit. Beth from Family Feud was awarded Player of the Match in the fill in game.

pancake pals v sockballers

Pancake Pals are yet to drop a game this season, but will have a challenge ahead of them tonight
against the inform Sockballers, who are currently on a 6 week winning streak. The first quarter saw
Pancake Pals come out strong and quickly build a 7 goal lead. Taking advantage of accurate shooting
and strong passes down the court. The second quarter was stronger for Sockballers who changed up
their players and sized up the shooter from Pancake Pals. The third quarter was another strong
quarter for Pancake Pals, extending their lead out to 13 goals heading into the final quarter, Laura
was instrumental for Pancake Pals throughout the game, working the ball throughout the court, she
was named Player of the Match for her efforts. Pancake Pals won the game 30 to 16 to continue
their winning streak.

underachievers v hot shots

Underachievers are on the back of a tie last week and are up against Hot Shots who have had a
number of challenging weeks in the lead up to tonight’s game. The first quarter saw Hot Shots come
out firing and quickly built up a 3 goal lead heading into the first change of ends. The second quarter
Underachievers stepped up and started to eat away at the lead that Hot Shots had built, getting
them down to the 1 goal lead. The third quarter saw Underachievers continue their momentum
from the second quarter, and they were able to get out in front, building their own 2 goal lead. The
final quarter saw lead changes by both teams and down to the wire, Hot Shots got out by a single
goal lead and kept it there, winning the game, 16 to 17. Jake from Hot Shots was awarded Player of
the Match for his efforts in the game.
