pineapple on pizza v bright ballers
These two finals contenders are very equally matched, this was sure to be a good game. Bright Ballers came out strong in the first quarter, making some great intercepts and with persistent shooting were able to get a good lead, 5 to 9 heading into the second quarter. Pineapple on Pizza made some positional changes for the second quarter as did Bright Ballers, but it seemed to be to the Bright Ballers advantage who were still able to outscore the usually strong Pineapple on Pizza. Heading into half time with a 7 point advantage. The third quarter saw Pineapple on Pizza display the kind of play we have come to know them for. Quick movements and strong shooting saw them narrow the gap slightly, 15 to 21 at quarter time. Ryan impressed the umpires throughout the game and was recognised for his efforts, awarded player of the match by the umpires. Bright Ballers continued to show strength holding out their lead in the last quarter and ultimately taking the game 21 v 28.
monny money squared v white line fever
This was a game that every had their eyes on. Last time they met White Line Fever was able to overpower the strong team of Monny Money, but they would be coming back strong this week with something to prove. The first quarter saw Monny Money come out strong, but White Line Fever seemed to be lacking their usual easy natured play. Both teams put their bodies on the line, and it looked to be a close game, Monny Money heading into the second quarter up by 4. However, the second quarter they started to run away with it. Illness plaguing some of the White Line Fever players had a big impact and Monny Money was able to stretch out their lead into the break, 19 to 10. The second half saw much the same with White Line Fever struggling to convert their centres, Ash played a pivotal role in defence for Monny Money and was awarded Best on by the umpires for his part in Monny Money’s eventual win over White Line Fever, 38 to 17.
ballistic beavers v sunflowers
Ballistic Beavers have had a hard run in the lead up to the game against the inform Sunflowers. The first quarter saw the defence for Ballistic Beavers show their strength and as such they were able to go into the second quarter with a 5 to 2 lead. Sunflowers usually accurate shooters had a hard time in the second quarter and Ballistic Beavers were able to extend their lead out to 7. The half time break saw Sunflowers regroup and they came out firing into the third. Outshooting Ballistic Beavers and working to close the gap slightly. Hussain was a key player for Sunflowers and the umpires recognised this awarding him player of the match. Unfortunately, that was the only win for Sunflowers tonight, with Ballistic Beavers continuing to play one of their best games yet, unfortunately there was an injury to their key shooter at the end of the game, hopefully not to serious and she will be back to follow up their 17 to 9 win in the next game.
hannah and the bananas v red dolphins
Hannah and the Bananas have had a hard start to their competition at Eastern Indoor but continue to show great improvement each week, Red Dolphins on the other hand have continued to grow from strength to strength and haven’t lost a game since grading. The first quarter saw Hannah and the Bananas shine! Playing some of the best netball we have seen since they commenced, they kept the scores level at 4 all going into the second quarter. Red Dolphins found a new gear in the second quarter and the defensive efforts made a big difference to score line come half time, with Red Dolphins going into the break, up by 6. Gabriel had a great game with very accurate shooting and was awarded best on for his efforts. The third quarter Red Dolphins continued to increase their pressure in the game and extend the lead to 10. Hannah and the Bananas were never going to go down without a fight and stepped up their defensive pressure in the last quarter, unfortunately it wasn’t enough and Red Dolphins took the game 7 to 23.
cops & lobbers v nets top model
These two teams are very evenly matched, and the first quarter was a great example with both teams going goal for goal, Cops and Lobbers scoring a goal in the dying seconds of the quarter saw them up by 1 at the change. The second quarter saw the same continue, both teams very even and goal for goal. Every intercept was met by another. Half time saw Cops and Lobbers with an 11 to 10 lead. Nets Top Model came out with a vengeance in the second half and they were able to take the lead, going in to the change 14 to 18. Celeste was pivotal in this change with her strong defence, turning over many of Cops and Lobbers balls. She was awarded Player of the Match by the umpires. Nets Top Model consolidated their lead in the last quarter and took the game with a 6 point lead, 21 to 27.
the unknowns v desperate housewives
The Unknowns extended their unbeaten run to five games as they engaged in a high-scoring display against Desperate Housewives, who did well to notch five of their own against the second-placed outfit. The latter have endured some tough recent challenges and will no doubt look to use this experience in their next few weeks with a more favourable run.
mandem city v the big bund
Mandem City notched double figures for a fourth-consecutive week and extended their unbeaten streak to a remarkable six games to well and truly earmark themselves as a contender. An unrelenting 15-1 win this week over The Big Bund got the four points. The Big Bund will be hoping to use the tough game in a more favourable contest next week. Alex was deemed player of the game for an outstanding performance.
bayswater strikers v fifa '98
Bayswater Strikers and Fifa ’98 engaged in an absolute thriller in one of the games of the night. The two evenly-matched units have been around a similar mark this season, so it was no surprise they treated fans to an epic, close contest. A 7-6 result went in favour of the in-form Bayswater Strikers, who are now unbeaten in their past four games. Gerardo S caught the referee’s attention for an eye-catching performance.
cuzzo fc v salt fc
Cuzzo continued their strong patch of form with a massive 16-goal haul against Salt FC, who registered an impressive tally of 9 themselves. The free-flowing affair unsurprisingly achieved the highest result of the evening with fans treated to 25 goals. Adam caught the attention of the referee to be awarded MOTM.
the originals v numpty fc
The Originals and Numpty FC engaged in a fierce and close contest that treated spectators to a fascinating 4-4 final scoreline. The Originals had been showing some strong winning form in recent weeks and came up against Numpty who have now hit their straps following their recent introduction. Both sides were made to share the spoils in one of the games of the night, with Daniel L awarded MOTM by the referee.
belgrave boys v balls to the walls
Belgrave Boys have had a mixed campaign to date with a high discrepancy between results and this week was no different with a resolute 13-2 win over Ball to the Walls. After a tough loss last week against one of the heavyweights of the comp, the side used their experience and learnings to earn the solid result. Ball to the Walls displayed some promising signs in recent weeks and will be hoping to return to that form soon. Alex was adjudged player of the game for a stirring performance.
smokin joes v the pele theater
Smokin Joes and The Pele Theater engaged in an intense battle which left spectators on their seats until the final moments. The two evenly-matched sides have had some close contests over the years and this time was no different, with a thrilling 6-5 win going the way of Smokin Joes. Chris was named player of the game by the referee for a standout performance.
leshter city v rat pack
Leshter City’s remarkable unbeaten streak was put to the test by the one of the most improved teams of the comp in in-form unit Rat Pack, who have proven they can mix it up with the best. The comp heavyweights were made to work extremely hard for the three points, just doing enough do edge out the impressive Rat Pack 5-3. A. Cooper starred for not the first time this season to claim MOTM honours.
infection v southeast warriors
Infection shot out of the blocks this season and have had a tough run in recent weeks against some of the top contenders in the comp. The emerging side looks to have hit its early form again with a hard-fought 3-1 win over Southeast Warriors, who pushed the side in a strong defensive display. Chris was named MOTM by the referee for an eye-catching display.
ac coob v the incisors
AC Coob have been enjoying a stirring run in recent weeks, narrowly getting over the line in a few close scorelines. It was no different this week, with another thrilling close 4-2 result earning the three points against an impressive Incisors outfit, who fought hard until the end. Mark was awarded MOTM honours for a superb showing.
