NETS TOP MODEL V BALLISTIC BEAVERS
Welcome back for another season to both teams. The first quarter saw Nets Top Model come out strongly and they quickly established a 5 goal lead. Ballistic Beavers had a strong second quarter and their defenders started to better predict the goalers from Nets Top Model. One of the Nets Top Model defenders suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter and had to come from the court. Ballistic Beavers took advantage of this change up in the defence and had another good quarter in the third, Nets Top Model continued to push and were able to slightly extend their lead to 8 goals. Just before the end of the third quarter the other key defender for Nets Top Model suffered an ankle injury and the was called. Ballistic Beavers demonstrated great sportsmanship with their reaction to the injuries and were happy to call the game with the score as it stood. We hope both players make a swift recovery.
Red Dolphins v Bridesmaids
Welcome back for another season to Bridesmaids and welcome back to our West premiers from last season, Red Dolphins. The first quarter saw Bridesmaids get out to an early 2 goal lead. Both teams fought hard for the ball in the second quarter with many contested possessions. Bridesmaids extended their lead slightly to 3 goals at the half time break. The third quarter saw Bridesmaids show why they have consistently featured in our finals season after season as they stretched out their lead to 6 goals. But Red Dolphins were not going to go down without a fight and fiercely attacked the score line throughout the last quarter. Matt for Red Dolphins and Adam for Bridesmaids were key players for their respective teams and were awarded Player of the Match. Bridesmaids did well to hold off the final push by Red Dolphins and won the game 20 to 23.
Eastern v Sunflowers
Welcome back for another season Sunflowers, looking forward to seeing what you can achieve this season. The first quarter saw both teams go goal for goal and score 4 goals each. The second quarter was like a rinse and repeat of the first with both teams continuing to push, so equally matched they both scored 4 goals again. It wasn’t until the third quarter that Eastern Nets were able to notch out a 5 goal lead with a change of positions for their players. The final quarter was back to level pegging with Sunflowers equalling the goals scored for that quarter. Alex was a standout for Sunflowers and was awarded player of the match.
Cobs & Lobbers v Pineapple on Pizza
Welcome both teams to the summer season, another season for both teams. The first quarter saw Cops and Lobbers get out to an early lead, strong shooting and good movement down the court contributing to that lead. The second quarter saw Pineapple on Pizza fight back and both teams were very well matched throughout the court. As seen on the scoreboard with both teams scoring 3 goals each for the quarter. Cops and Lobbers came out strong after the break and were outscoring their opponents 2 to 1. The accuracy in the Cops and Lobbers shooters is off to a great start for this season. The final quarter saw Pineapple on Pizza continue to push to the final minute reducing the gap down to 9. Kane from Cops and Lobbers was the player of the match for his defensive efforts.
Netscape Navigators v Vicious & Delicious
Welcome back for another season, looking forward to seeing what both teams can achieve. The first quarter was a great start for both teams, going goal for goal and heading into the change on 4 all. The second quarter was much the same with Netscape Navigators just etching out a minor 1 goal lead into the break. Vicious and Delicious came out of the break like a whole new team, not just because of the new players on their team this season, but for the energy they brought to the second half. Taking over the lead and getting out to a 2 goal lead into the final quarter. Netscape Navigators continued to try and shut down their shooters, but Vicious and Delicious ultimately won the game 15 to 22. Liam was crucial in this win with his movement of the ball through the midcourt and was awarded player of the match for Vicious and Delicious
Hannah and the bananas v Reds
Welcome to Easter Indoor to our newest team, Reds, and welcome back Hannah and the Bananas. The first quarter showed us that Reds are here to win! Quickly stretching out to a 7 goal lead. The second quarter saw them continue to push and stretch out their lead to 9 going into the break. Hannah and the Bananas came back fighting in the second half, closing the gap in the third quarter to 6 goals. The last quarter saw a last-ditch effort by Hannah and the Bananas against the newcomers, James was instrumental for Hannah and the Bananas and was awarded player of the match, unfortunately time wasn’t on their side and Hannah and the Bananas got back within 3 goals, but Red took the win.
